The Problem

Promotion doesn't create a manager.

Most managers are appointed without structured preparation for the fundamental shift people leadership requires. The consequences are predictable — and costly.

60%
of new managers fail within their first 24 months — not from lack of effort, but from a structural preparation gap.

Managing people is a different craft — technical expertise that earned the promotion is now the least important skill. Entirely new mindsets, tools, and conversations are required — and most managers receive none of them.
Mid-level managers operate across three worlds simultaneously — their own identity, their people, and the organization's strategy. Without structured development, they become the ceiling their teams can't break through.
Skills Café's answer: two purpose-built journeys, game-anchored, behavioral science embedded, every activity tracked and certified on LearningWeaver. Measurable behavior change — not just learning hours.

The gap between being a great contributor and being a great manager is not just a skills gap — it is an identity shift. That's what Rise to Lead is designed for.

Our Methodology

The BEST Framework — four non-negotiable stages.

Every theme across both journeys is structured around four stages. No stage is skipped. No shortcut is taken.

B
Benchmark Pre
Every learner completes the Smart City Challenge — a self-paced leadership simulation generating a personalized Managerial Excellence Report establishing a behavioral baseline and informing facilitator preparation. Four episodes test goal setting, decision-making under pressure, delegation and motivation, and adversity management — producing a detailed Managerial Excellence Report downloaded immediately after completion.
E
Experiential Core
Every 4-hour masterclass is anchored by a proprietary board game or simulation. Concepts are never presented before they are experienced. The game creates the "why" — the masterclass content builds the "what" and the "how," embedding frameworks and tools after participants have lived the experience.
S
Scaffolded Practice
Two self-paced micro-learning simulations after every masterclass, one real-world action project submitted through LearningWeaver, and optional group coaching circles to bridge between learning and live application. Practice reinforces mastery before certification.
T
Test for Transfer
The journey closes with a post-assessment using the same simulation. Pre versus post scores generate an individual Behavioral Shift Report demonstrating measurable change — giving both learner and organization proof of growth across all seven theme competencies.

World 3: Work
Strategy and influence in senior forums. Systems-level thinking, rigorous problem solving, stakeholder influence, and executive presence navigating organizational complexity.
